I am currently studying my HND Health, fitness and exercise at Dumfries and Galloway college in the hope of gaining my level 3 personal trainer certificate. This has been a life long dream of mine and now I’m taking the steps to make it a reality!
I look forward to working with everyone here at the Barracuda and helping everyone reach their fitness goals.
“The pain you feel today will be the strength you feel tomorrow!!”.
I have recently graduated at Edinburgh Napier University with a 2:1 Honours degree in sport and exercise science after four years of study. During my summer breaks from university I used to work here at the barracuda club as a leisure attendant/gym instructor. I also gained valuable experience coaching children’s summer camps at Queen of the South FC voluntarily.
Sport, health and fitness has played a major role throughout my life and I have participated in a wide variety of both team and individual based sports. I enjoy the healthy lifestyle of both exercise and diet, so you will most likely see me around the gym practicing what I preach and tucking into some healthy home made meals in the café.
I have also helped organise an annual football charity match with my friends raising over £5000 for bloodwise charity.
My ambition here at the Barracuda Club is to put the knowledge and experience I have gained into practice and help you all on your way to achieve your goals.
“A DREAM written down with a date becomes a GOAL. A goal broken down into steps becomes a PLAN. A plan backed by ACTION becomes REALITY!!!”.
I am currently studying to be a personal trainer and fitness coach at Dumfries and Galloway college. I have gained most my coaching knowledge and experience from my background in coaching and instructing sailing which I have been doing for 3 years since leaving the national sailing squads.
I have also been through a personal weight loss of 31kilos or 68.4 pounds(4.8 stone) which has helped me understand the process of how to also help others reach these goals and other similar fitness goals.
“Everyone’s idea of being “fit” is different, it doesn’t matter if you want to be able to run a marathon or benchpress 200 kilos. Find the best aspect of fitness in your eyes and set a goal that is important to you.”.
I ‘ve been working for 30 years always in direct service to people.
I found out, in the last year and a half in the Barracuda, that serving coffees relaxes me and I hope to help you find joy in a cup of tea or coffee!
I have recently returned to Dumfries after studying in Fife for over two years where I was studying Coaching and development in sport. Throughout this time I gained two valuable qualifications and an extremely good experience where I was fortunate enough to be accepted onto the Erasmus + project where I coached for a month in Sweden coaching football clubs and being able to go to the professional clubs and gain valuable experience from the professionals.
Now that I am back in Dumfries I plan on staying in the sports industry and I am looking to progress further by doing my Gym instructor level two qualification and then in the long term I am looking to become a personal trainer.
I look forward to help you strive towards your goals while you are here at the Barracuda Club.
“My success isn’t a result of arrogance, its a result of belief”.
I have been working at the Barracuda Club for almost 7 years now, and I just completed gym instructing level 2, also half way through my personal training level 3, so I will be able to help you achieve your health and fitness potential through knowledge, positive encouragement, guidance and motivation. It feels good to be a small part of such a positive component of people’s day.
I smile, I work, I teach, I sweat, I meet new people, its just plain fun for me.
“Enter every activity without giving mental recognition to the possibility of defeat. Concentrate on your strengths instead of your weaknesses, on your powers instead of your problems.”
